The night was dark,
The light was dim.
The nocturnal traveler,
Was out on a whim.
The tree is creaked,
Houses shook.
And if you hear a noise,
Do not turn and look.
It could be a beast,
Looking for a treat.
Something to devour,
Some sweet juicy meat.
It could be another,
One just like you.
Someone who joins your journey,
Someone to talk to.
Or it could be the legend,
One, often the tales told.
One who got lost,
Searching for souls.
All that calls sweetly,
Is not sugar.
It could be a trap,
Laid by something bigger.
‘Beware of the woods,
Beware of the good.’
Thought the man,
In the forest, where he last stood.
